Tips for meeting safely

  • Meet for the first time in a public place, such as the airport check-in area.
  • Never carry a sealed package. Check the contents together before you accept it.
  • Do not carry anything that is illegal or restricted, such as large amounts of cash or unlabelled medicine.
  • Agree on any payment before the trip and keep the conversation in the app.
  • Tell a friend or family member who you are meeting and when.

Frequently asked questions

What is Buddy Hive?

A community for Indians in Sweden and abroad. You can find a travel companion, ask someone flying the same route to carry documents or a small parcel, get help from visa and financial guides, and use free guides such as the Sweden newcomer checklist and the housing guide.

Is Buddy Hive free?

Yes. Posting a request, offering help and using the guides and tools are all free. Buddy Hive does not take a cut or handle payments.

Do helpers get paid?

That is up to you. Many people help for free because someone once helped them. A helper can also ask for a fee, for example to cover extra baggage. You agree on the price and how to pay in the chat before anything happens.

Why would I help a stranger?

Most of us remember our first flight abroad, our first winter or our first visa form. Helping is a way to pass that on, meet people from the community and build a network in a new country. Good reviews also make it easier for others to trust you when you need help yourself.

How do I meet someone safely?

Keep the conversation in the Buddy Hive chat until you are comfortable, meet for the first time in a public place such as the airport, and tell someone you trust who you are meeting. Check their rating before you agree.

Is it safe to carry something for someone?

Only carry what you can check. Never accept a sealed package, open it together before you take it, and refuse anything illegal or restricted, such as large amounts of cash or medicine without a prescription. You are responsible for what is in your luggage.

How do you verify users?

Every account signs in with a verified email address or a Google account, and people can review each other after they have helped. We are a small team, so we do not check IDs yet. Use the chat and reviews to get to know someone first.
